Do you consider yourself a creative person? What types of creative activities do you engage in?
I consider myself a creative person and feel inspired to constantly create whether it’s in the kitchen, creating these newsletters, my weekly podcast, Positively Anti-Inflammatory, my burlesque costumes and performances, the list goes on.
I love thinking about creativity as a wellness practice because it aligns with my holistic approach to health.
What is creativity anyway?
Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. It’s expressing ourselves and our ideas in new ways.
We are in partnership with our creativity and the creative process begins with opening up, listening and receiving.
What’s super cool is that there are countless studies showing that creative expression has a powerful impact on your wellbeing, including the following health benefits:
decreases anxiety and depression
improves brain function
increases positive emotions such as happiness
boosts self-confidence
helps reduce stress
supports immune system
increases problem-solving abilities
improves cognitive function
a joyful sense of personal growth and fulfillment
For some, engaging in creative projects and activities is a natural part of life. But for others, what we think as “being creative” might not seem as accessible.
Keep in mind that we are all creative.
You are creative.
Creative wellness and expression involves nurturing your creative urges, and exploring creative or artistic endeavors. It’s finding joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose through creative outlets.
You can cultivate creative wellness by being open to new ideas, new experiences, new perspectives, and getting curious.
Let’s get our creative inspiration going as we transition into a new season of Autumn.
Love, Your Wellness Coach,
Alyssa
